Tod Cutler – Pitt Rivers Stiletto

This finely crafted dagger is based on a mid-17th century North Italian original in the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford and like everything from Tod Cutler is the result of meticulous research into period originals and historical evidence that ensures even the small details are correct, altogether making this dagger a superb choice for reenactors or discerning collectors. Like the original, it is an all-steel dagger with a blade of tempered EN45 high carbon steel and an embellished hilt of solid, turned steel with a baluster form. The blade is just the right length at over 8 inches to make it an ideal thrusting weapon for self defense or offense in a Renaissance or early modern civilian context – a concealable, everyday carry blade for the gentleman or rogue of 17th century Italy or beyond. Its thick spine and triangular cross-section with fullers give it plenty of rigidity, lightness, and durability while tapering to a fine puncturing tip capable of piercing armor or heavy clothing. The 4 1/4 inch hilt is just long enough for a sure and comfortable handhold. Included with the dagger is a sheath of robust genuine high quality double-layer naturally tanned leather with stitched construction and a brass chape that is ready to be fastened to your belt
