This Greek style javelin head of high carbon steel is ready to mount onto your own wooden haft and is designed to fit hafts that are about 7/8″ in diameter – some tapering and shaping will be necessary for an optimal fit in the tapered socket of the javelin head. Greek peltasts would carry many javelin into battle and could increase the speed and power of their thrown strike with an “amentum” – a spear throwing tool and technique involving a leather strap to gain leverage and power in hurling the javelin.
