Description This is Japanese Lucky Cat Retro (Lucky Retro Maneki Neko) series. Those are all handmade in Seto city in Aichi prefecture. There are three different colours, Black, Red and Gold. Each colour carries different luck. -Black is to avoid any unluckiness and business prosperity- -Red is for a long life, great health and free from any illness or diseases- -Gold is for good wealth and unlimited luck- Each cat has Luck in Japanese written upside down “福”, indicating that luck will arrive from the god above to you. What is Maneki Neko? The maneki-neko (招き猫, lit. ’beckoning cat’) is a common Japanese figurine which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner. In modern times, they are usually made of ceramic or plastic. The figurine depicts a cat, traditionally a calico Japanese Bobtail, with a paw raised in a Japanese beckoning gesture. The figurines are often displayed in shops, restaurants, dry cleaners, laundromats, bars, casinos, hotels, nightclubs, and other businesses, generally near the entrance. Some maneki-neko are equipped with a mechanical paw which slowly moves back and forth. Maneki-neko come in different colors and styles and vary in degrees of detail. Common colors are white, black, red, and gold. Maneki-neko are sometimes referred to simply as “lucky cats”.
