Cold steel uses synthetic polypropylene material to cut cost but it is hard and heavy like wood at 2.10 lbs with an octagon shape and dragon carvings make this grip well for training and practicing your kata/forms or as a display piece. I compared it to one of my hardwood octagon staffs that cost 3-4 times as much and it is good for the price. I have broken many hardwood staff but this held up. Kult of Athena is where I buy most of my weapons and gear and swords since they always have the lowest price by far and carry good brands. I had only one return over the years and KOA was good to me so I dont bother with anyone else now.
