Native American Ball Club with Bear Handle

This Native American Ball Club is carved from hardwood and has a handle which is hand-carved into a bear head. A common weapon to the tribal warriors of the Eastern Woodlands and Great Lakes, these clubs were light and very quick and a stylistic match to the agile and unhindered fighting styles of the warriors who used them. Though light and fast, a well-placed blow from such a club could smash the skull or bones of a foe.
