Native American Eagle Claw Ball Club

This Native American Ball Club is intricately carved from hardwood and completed with a richly stained finish and painted detail. A common sight with the Native American warriors of the the Great Lakes and Eastern Woodlands, the ball club was a swift-striking weapon that could crush a jaw or head in a well-connected blow. Like the replica available here, some examples are skillfully crafted and filled with carved detailing and would be the weapon of an esteemed warrior. Other examples are masterworks of craftsmanship and these probably served a ceremonial role.
