The Red Dragon Armoury Shin Guards bring substantial protection to the lower leg in an easily worn and lightweight design. A rigid plate of hard impact plastic across the front beings excellent primary protection and this is backed with thick and firm foam padding behind the plate for impact absorption. Protecting the calf and ankle are additional plates of hard plastic which are backed in thick foam and integrated directly into the shin guard. Michael Turner, instructor at Tuathair Academy of Swordsmanship, assisted us in categorizing these items for the different skill levels of HEMA participants. These categorizations are meant as guidelines. Please refer to tournament rules for specific competition requirements. For this purpose, we do not include swords that may be used in cutting competitions in the HEMA category.
