Leg Armor Set / Cuisse and Poleyn – 16 Gauge Steel – Lord of Battles

This set of medieval leg armor is sturdily constructed and quite well articulated with its swivel-rivet construction and well-formed plates which glide past one another. Each leg armor consists of a cuisse with integrated poleyns and a hinged side plate to give additional protection to the side of the leg. The steel plates are 16 gauge in thickness with a polished steel exterior and a blackened interior. The poleyns have a wide range of articulated movement and the well designed uppermost plate can swivel outwards to offer greater freedom of movement to the upper leg and joints. The armor is secured to the leg with a set of thick leather straps and tabs which attach to strong steel buckles which both secure the armor and adjust its fit. A thick leather tab at the top of the armor not only provides chafe protection but also has a set of stainless steel eyelets which allow for the armor to be laced onto an arming belt or girdle to ensure that the armor is properly suspended and secured into position. A series of pre-drilled holes in the bottom plate of the poleyn allow for the lower portion of the armor to be laced onto and fastened to an underlaying arming garment or attached to other pieces of armor. Please Note: The demonstration photos show this armor being paired with other pieces of gear and padded clothing. Only the leg armor and some leather cords are included and these are shown on their own in the later photos – all other accessories seen are shown for demonstration only and are available separately. To assist in wearing and suspending this armor the demonstration model has the armor laced and suspended from a padded arming belt with the use of brass-capped aiglets.
