Lord of Battles – Front-Buckled Gambeson – Natural

An essential piece of kit to any medieval armored defense, a gambeson provides the padded, shock absorbing underlayment to armor – though it functions quite well on its own as a thick, dense fabric layer that is difficult to slice through. It also doubles as chafe protection from the hard edges and cinching rings of plate and mail armors. This robust gambeson is constructed from durable cotton canvas cloth and is well-padded on the inside with cotton felt. This organic interior fill breathes better and has improved ventilation properties over synthetic poly-fill gambesons. A quilted design uses stitching to intersect the gambeson and ensure that the padding stays in place. With a frontal set of leather straps and adjustable brass buckles this gambeson is easier to don than many and is worn like a stiff and thick coat. A closed armpit design may not ventilate heat as well as an open design, but it gives an important last defense to the vital arteries in the armpit and ensures that it is a far less tempting target to a foe looking for an opening.
