An Early Art Deco Storyteller Bracelet with Hand Painted Mother of Pearl Panels
$14.55
$25.17
A very early and rare Art Deco bracelet composed of solid mother of pearl rectangular panels, each finely decorated with intricate Chinese scenes. The panels depict birds, animals, figures and foliage, with each image showing slight variation, suggesting individual hand-painted work. The artwork is protected beneath a clear lacquer that has developed a gentle aged tone over time, adding warmth and character. The panels are joined by handmade copper links at the top and bottom edges, with round loops allowing the bracelet to flex naturally around the wrist. The clasp is an early design featuring dual slotted receivers with a sliding locking pin. While unmarked, it appears to be low-grade silver and functions securely. A highly distinctive piece with strong visual presence, often referred to as a storyteller bracelet due to the narrative scenes across the panels. Condition is excellent for its age, with only very minor lacquer loss to a small number of panels. Dimensions approximately:Length 18.9 cmPanels each 2.4 cm x 1.8 cm x 0.3 cmTotal mass 30.3 grams
