This replica of the Olmbutz Medieval Nasal Bar Helm is crafted from 14 gauge steel; the interior is blackened and lined with an adjustable internal suspension liner of leather that can be adjusted to best fit the head. An adjustable leather chin strap with a brass buckle completes the helm. This nasal helm is a reconstruction of one found in Olmbutz, Czech Republic. It dates to the 11th Century. It is characteristic of the one-piece conical nasal helms of early Medieval Europe. Fairly easy to construct with good protection for the head and some protection for the face, it gave little impairment to the visibility of the warrior within. This all-round versatility made it a mainstay, and variants of the helm have been found from England to the Middle East. This Olmbutz helm has been made from 16 gauge steel. It has an integrated leather suspension with an adjustable leather tie to alter the internal fit of the helmet. It has an adjustable leather chin strap and buckle to keep the helm affixed to the head during the whirl of melee.
