This amazing Event Worn dress from the Estate of Hollywood Actress designed by Norma Kamali. Raquel Welch wore the OMO Norma Kamali gown to the 17th Annual CFDA Awards, on February 28, 1998, where she was interviewed on the red carpet saying, “I think fashion is great. It is sort of about the art of being a woman, about style, about attitude, and yes, you can’t always wear the clothes down the street that you see on the runway but it’s about an idea and a feeling.” Norma Kamali posted a photo on her Instagram of herself and Welch (who the designed the gown) at the 17th Annual CFDA Awards on February 17, 2023, with the caption “RIP Dear Raquel! You understood female power ahead of so many powerfully strong women. Humor is everything. I so enjoyed dressing one of the most incredible bodies of all time! Thank you for the opportunity.” A new 1960s international sex symbol was crowned when Raquel Welch emerged from the sea in her iconic, skimpy prehistoric bikini in One Million Years B.C. (1966). Her wet, clinging outfit captivated audiences and created the era’s most iconic pin-up poster, becoming a sensation among men and teenage boys alike. She regrouped in California, auditioning for film and TV roles. She landed small, sexy parts on shows like Bewitched and McHale’s Navy, and in films like Roustabout (1964) and Do Not Disturb (1965). Her first major film role came in A Swingin’ Summer (1965), though the spotlight was on the musical acts more than her. 20th Century Fox took notice and signed her. On loan to Hammer Studios, she starred in One Million Years B.C. (1966), which launched her to international fame. She continued to shine in roles like “lust” in Bedazzled (1967) and as a secret agent in Fathom (1967). Her sexy typecasting limited her, though she won a Golden Globe for *The Three Musketeers* (1973) and appeared in *The Last of Sheila* (1973). Welch found success in TV movies, earning a Golden Globe nomination for *Right to Die* (1987). She also ventured into beauty product endorsements, exercise videos, and live performances in Las Vegas. Later, she appeared in *Seinfeld*, *American Family* (2002), and films like *Legally Blonde* (2001) and *How to Be a Latin Lover* (2017). Raquel Welch died in 2023.
